STORY

The edition TM–A is a production of Möller’s label embodiment under which she creates works of art with a practical use. As such this artwork can be worn as a scarf, headgear, or folded to a face mask (small version). But it may also be framed behind glass. The large version is patched with various textiles and varies in size and textile material used, and is rather unique in its edition availabilty.

TM–A refers to “The Mask - Arrayed” – a research project which explores the material, technological, and cultural aspects of the most iconic artefact of the COVID-19 crisis—the face mask. In a collage of essays and images historians of science, technology, medicine, and the environment and the artist Möller unmask the complexity of a seemingly simple object and unveil its many layers and different usages.

The digital collage created by Möller, which is also the image of the TM-A edition, became the facial identity of the research project “The Mask – Arrayed”, which started in March 2020 (ongoing) and is hosted by Max Planck Institute for the History of Science (MPIWG).
